National Education Day is celebrated every year on the 11th of November to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Minister of Education in independent India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
He was a prominent freedom fighter and senior leader in the Indian National Congress. He served as the Minister of Education from 1947 to 1958.
He made significant contriibutions to the development of education in our country.

National Education Day is observed to commemorate Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s contributions to education for our country. We should recognize and honour his contribution to achieving social and economic development.

He also helped to establish different educational institutions like Jamia Millia Islamia and IIT Kharagpur.
