Utkal Divas is celebrated on 1st April every year in Odisha.
The Odisha state was formed on 1st April 1936.
Utkal Dibasa is also called Odisha Day, Sthapana Diwas or Utkal Divas.
The day is remembered for the formation of the state Orissa as a separate province.
After the Carnatic wars Orissa was merged with the Madras presidency.
In 2011, the states name was officially changed from Orissa to Odisha and Oriya language to Odia
Odisha Divas is a Public holiday in Odisha.
On this day schools and colleges are organized many cultural programmes.
The government is also organized some programmes about Odisha culture on this day.
Odisha Divas is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy in Odisha.
