Good Morning Respected Principal Sir, Respected Teachers and my dear friends.
As we gather here to celebrate National Science Day. I feel honored to deliver a speech on National Science Day. National Science Day is celebrated every year on the 28th of February. This day is celebrated to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman.
The Raman effect was discovered on the 28th of February in 1928. So every year National Science day is celebrated on the 28th of February to commemorate the famous Indian Physicist Sir C.V. Raman’s discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’.
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman is well known for his work in the field of light scattering. Sir C.V Raman developed a spectrograph that he used along with his student K.S. Krishnan to discover that when light traverses a transparent material, the deflected light changes its wavelength and frequency. This phenomenon was known as “modified scattering” and it was subsequently termed the Raman effect or Raman scattering.
The Nobel Prize in Physics 1930 was awarded to Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman “for his work on the scattering of light and for the discovery of the effect named after him. He was the first Asian to receive a Nobel Prize in any branch of science. This day is celebrated every year by the Government of India as the National Science day. The first National Science Day was celebrated on 28th of February 1987.
This day is celebrated to spread knowledgeable messages about science. Science Day is a day where everyone can lean about science and its impact on our daily lives. On this day, different events are organized worldwide to promote science and give people a great opportunity to learn and participate in hands-on experiments. National Science Day is celebrated in different schools, colleges, and universities. It is also celebrated in different research and science institutes and medical colleges.
National Science Day, not only celebrates the remarkable scientific milestone but also serves as a reminder of the important role that science and technology play in our daily lives. It is important to recognize the contributions of our scientists and researchers who work dedicatedly day and night to expand the boundaries of knowledge and make extraordinary discoveries. Their dedication and passion for selfless work for our country and the whole world, inspire future generations to pursue careers in science and contribute their knowledge and discoveries to our society.
Every year, the day is celebrated with a particular theme. So, this year the theme of national science day 2024 is “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat“.
