The Training Unit, CBSE is organizing a webinar on Smt. Savitribai Phule, the famous social reformer and teacher of Nineteenth Century on her birth anniversary. Smt. Savitribai Phule was a trailblazer in providing education for girls and for ostracized portions of society. She became the first female teacher in India (1848) and opened many schools for girls with her husband, Jyotirao Phule. Born in Naigaon, a small village in the state of Maharashtra on 3rd January, 1831, Savitribai displayed a strong sense of curiosity and ambition as a young girl. After getting married to Jyotirao Phule in 1840 at the age of nine, she was educated by him and later used that education to fight inequality, graded patriarchy and social oppression.
