CBSE Circular – Commemoration of 1st Veer Bal Diwas on 26th December 2022
The Govt. of India vide Ministry of Home Affairs notification no. F.No.17014/2/2022-IS-VII dated 09.01.2022 has decided to commemorate 26th December every year as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to pay homage to the great valour and supreme sacrifice of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh ji, the younger sons of the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh ji, on 26th December 1704, at the tender age of 9 and 7 years respectively, in their quest for justice. A brief write up is given in annexure A.
Accordingly, schools are requested to observe Veer Bal Diwas in a befitting manner as per the details given below:
Aim of Veer Bal Diwas:
To pay homage to the courage of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh ji, younger sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs.

26th December to 26th January
Target Stakeholders
Students of Classes 1-5
In order to commemorate first Veer Bal Diwas on 26th December 2022 and to facilitate participation of students, a few suggestive low/zero – cost, high visibility activities are given in annexure B which can be undertaken by schools with the following objectives and as per their suitability.
- To create awareness about the sacrifice of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh ji, younger sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs.
- To enable students to acquire the qualities of sacrifice, courage, steadfastness, confidence, mindfulness, and others as exhibited by the Sahibzadas
