Today, we gather here to celebrate a day that might not seem as exciting as Christmas or colorful as holid, but is just as important it’s World Soil Day !
Now, I know what you might be thinking, “soil? why are we celebrating dirt?” But trust me, soil is much more than just dirt.
Soil is like a magical carpet, full of life and secrets. It’s a home for millions of tiny creatures like earthworms, beetles and bacteria that help to keep the soil healthy. These little helpers breakdown dead plants and animals and turn them into nutrients, which help newplants to grow.
So, every time you see a beautiful flower or eat a juicy apple, remeber it’s all thanks to the soil. But soil doesn’t just helps plants grow. It also cleans our water and makes it safe for us to drink. When rainwater passes through the soil, it acts like a big sponge, soaking up all the harmul stuff like chemicals and germs.
So, the next time you enjoy a glass of clean water, say a little thank you to the soil.
However, Our magical soil carpet is in danger. Bad practices like cutting down too many trees, not rotating crops, and using too many chemicals are making our soil sick. This is like pulling threads out of our magical carpet. If we keep doing it, eventually there will be nothing left.
World Soil Day is a day to remind us all to take care of our soil. Just like you would look after a pet or a plant. Soil needs our love and care too. We can do this by planting more trees, recycling our food waste in to compost, and not using harmful chemicals. So, on this world soil day, let us make a promise. A promise to respect and protect our soil, no just for us, but for all the little creatures who call it home. Also for future generations who will depend on it just as we do.
Remember, Soil is not just dirt. It is a magical carpet that’s give life to everything around us. So, let’s celebrate it, not just today, but every day.
