Best Speech on Republic Day – 26 January 2025
Respected Sir/Madam, I feel proud to stand before you on this great occasion of Republic Day.
26th January is a very special day in the history of our country because this day is the day of adoption of the Constitution of India. That day in 1950, when India finally emerged as a republic, a country where power belongs to the people, and is guided by the rule of law. Today we gather here to celebrate this resilient spirit of democracy, unity and freedom. India has one of the most glorious stories to share as a modern nation after being under foreign rule for centuries. Although India emerged as an independent nation on August 15, 1947, due to unparalleled resilience, courage and determination, it could become a sovereign, democratic republic only after the country adopted its Constitution on January 26, 1950.
The Constitution of India was drafted by the Constituent Assembly led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Ambedkar is a hallmark of the vision, wisdom and values established by the founding fathers. It envisioned justice, liberty, equality and fraternity among its citizens by ensuring that this vast and diverse constitution would have the longest written constitution for every citizen, a living necessity in our society Republic Day is an occasion meant only to celebrate the adoption of this great document. But I also pay tribute to those who worked day and night to give it shape. They come from different backgrounds, religions and communities, but all had a common belief in a unified India. Their dream was to have a country governed freely and run according to the law, rather than the whims of the masses and where the lives of citizens are safe and guaranteed with dignity and full accountability of the government to the people.
Today as we gather here, we need to think about India’s journey as a republic, we have taken a giant leap in many areas: education, technology, space agriculture and health, today, India is one of the largest economies in the world, a world leader in information technology and an emerging world power. And yet, even as we march towards progress, poverty, inequality and environmental degradation continue to be challenges before us. Now in today’s time, the future of this society, the future of this great India, is on the shoulders of youth like you and us. We can do great work in the field of patriotism by crushing the evils prevalent in the Indian society.
Today, from this platform, I would like to request all of you to give your cooperation in improving and developing India. There is nothing more patriotic than this in the present times.
