The World Maritime Day 2023 takes place on 28 September 2023. This year’s World Maritime theme is “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on”.
Every year the International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrates World Maritime Day. The exact date is left to individual governments but it is usually celebrated during the last week.
World Maritime Day used to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security and the marine environment and to emphais a particular aspect of IMO’s work.
